Structured Cabling System

Cat5Plus is new BICC Brand-Rex Category 5 Structured Cabling System incomporating a full range of patch panels, data outlets and accessories complementary to the Structured Wiring Cables and Patch Cords detaled on pages 4 and 5. It can be installed as a turnkey solution or supplied in component form.Cat5Plus is the first range in the world to the feature full Category 5/TSB 40A compliance as well as independent 3rd party EC approval. The system offers a choice of UTP or FTP component in either AT & T style '110' or European style 'Krone' IDC termination systems.Cat5Plus is transparent to, and supports, all major national and international LAN and Networking systems which operate on 100 Ohm cable over lengths of up to 100 metres at frequencies up to 100 MHz. It is designed to support the following equipment and communications protocol:

• IBM 3270
• IBM S/3X
• IBM AS400
• IBM RS6000
• Ethernet 10 Mb/s 10 BaseT and two new proposed 100 Mb/s Ethernet systems, e.g. 100BaseT and 100BaseVG
• Token Ring IEEE 802.5 both 4 and 16 Mb/s versions
• Copper based FDDI at 100 Mb/s, e.g. TP-PMD, TPDDI and CDDI
• ATM at 155 Mb/s
• ARCNet at 2.5Mb/s
• Analogue Video, CCTV and RGB systems with appropriate balun.

BICC Brand-Rex CAT5Plus is also fully compatible and interchange-able with any other 100 Ohm Category 5 cabling system which features keyed or unkeyed Rj45 connectors, UTp or FTP cabling and EIA 568A or 568B wiring in the patch panels and data outlets.
